Rain

Heavy clouds press the sun out of the sky

shrouding the land with darkness;

while electric fingers reach down

as if to show the way.

The rumbling voices announce their arrival

as still they drag their wet cargo across the sky.

Soon small drops begin to escape

falling to the earth below only to be

swallowed up by the thirsty land.

The drops rapidly multiply

as the clouds lose the will to hold them back.

The parched ground greedily drinks

and flowers raise their heads

to receive the life source.

Hours pass and soon the thirst is quenched.

The once heavy clouds simply float away

to disappear beyond the streaming sunlight.

All that is left behind is a landscape,

sprinkled with glitter.
